Rear propshaft 'doughnut' rubber coupling to diff vandalised itself and knackered the propshaft, its bolts, and the flange that attaches to the rear diff..I need to replace this flange to the diff but I cant work out how to get the SOB off..Any advice short of keep chickens in it or set it on fire would be much appreciated...... Cheers....stu : i take it you'll be ditching the rubber doughnut and replacing the diff flange and prop with a standard 4 bolt item? the diff flange is held on by a big nut (32mm i think) and it is on really tight. not just tight - but hernia inducingly tight. Someone else on here used the term "little bit of wee tight" - which is about right. dont lie under the motor and haul down on a long breaker bar to undo this nut, all that will happen is you'll turn the diff and run yourself over. make sure the front and rear wheels are chocked securely and then use a very long breaker bar (or whizzy windy impact gun) to undo the nut. scooby Posted April 16, 2008 Share Posted April 16, 2008 sorry lads don't mean to highjack this post i've the same problem as stu180268 and i am following the same link showing how white90 did the job (that man knows his stuff) it's crossed my mind to fit a 4 bolt flange on the diff off the 200 disco and fit the 200 propshaft , is it as straight forward as it sounds and any reason against not doing it sorry again stu180268 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

To fit a four bolt flange you will need a spacer as the flange is a different length (the three bolt one is slightly longer) I cut a bit off the three bolt flange to make the spacer up when I fitted the four bolt flange.
