Defender 300 TDi Immobiliser

Given the fragility of key fobs and immobilisers, I was thinking of putting in some permanent cabling with key switches to bypass the immobiliser and go straight to starter solenoid and fuel cut-off. From the wiring diagrams it does not look too difficult.

Anyone done this ? Any tips, snags etc ?
