Blocks are the same for Disco/Def engine.

Things that ate different that spring to mind.

Timing chest

Alt bracket

PAS bracket

Inlet/exhaust manifolds

Exhaust downpipe

I/C hose

Air cleaner

Engine mounts (I think)

Turbo is different but that would be associated with the manifolds

If you got a Disco lump it's just a lot of unbolting and transfer across.

Lots of mention about 'breathers not blocked' but no mention of good vacuum suction on the inlet manifold where the breather pipes connect........

On the assumption that all is well with the rotating bits and piston rings the only logical explanation is that there is insufficient suction acting on the breather system to match the Normal pressurisation from piston ring blow-by.

If the rear most cam bearing moves it opens up the oil gallery thus lowering the oil pressure so it won't be that

Mark - go back to basics, check every breather manually, look for a pipe with a collapsed inner or a bent/flattened tube

Have you done a compression check since you replaced the head gasket and checked the head face/crack tested the head?
