Lars L
The turbocharger on my transplanted Disco 200Tdi engine has constantly dropped its ability to create boost. I installed a boost gauge last summer and did a short test with the wastegate disconnected and the boost flew up even at low speeds. I have since readjusted the boost from time to time to keep it up at the wanted 1,1 bar. Some time back I came to the point where I could disconnect the hose on the wastegate and 1,1 bar is top of what I get. There are no oil leaks or other signs of a worn out turbo, so is this what can be expected from a high mile unit? Time for a new, perhaps... TheRecklessEngineer
Might be the wastegate stuck open?
lrfarmer
if you can try to have a look and the fins on both sides of the turbo if the fins are in good condition it should be fine, witch would to me say it's something to do with the wastegate is leaking, broken. as a turbo has only 2 sets of fins and a shaft connecting them if the fins are in good condition and the turbo turns freely it should blow.
