Citroen AX Seats

Recommended Posts

To the stunned amazement of all who know her my youngest passed her driving test last week. 'Nora' the family heirloom 'first car' has been sitting on SORN for the last year awaiting the moment, but a quick check has shown that she's been standing too long so she's going to the scrap man.

But the seats are good. And the ones in my 110 are knackered. I seem to recall reading that these fit nicely in a 90/110? Anybody done this? Any problems/pitfalls?

Cheers

Sorry, can't help on the fitting of the seats, but keep us posted on how the fitment goes (pics 'n' all!) as i fancy some comfy ones in my 110 when it's built.

I think if you took the runners off and sat them in the landy youd get an idea,or get a flat plate tacked on to the bottom of each runner or the base of the seat and youd definateley be well on the way, this is how ive fitted seats in the past, the only thing is how would the access to the battery and jack be?? you see i dont think you can use the original landrover base fittings as there quick release?, if you did that then because your new seats are all in one they would be very insecure, as the back is bolted to the seat base unlike the landy.......my 2p...keep me posted,im sure the experts will be here soon to put us right ;)

I may have been optimistic. Thought it was a good idea 'cos the base comes out like a Land Rover. But the runners are at different heights, also one bolts to floor, the other to a bracket at 90 degrees.

Angle grinder and welder time methinks.

To be continued...............................

can you get other runners from a tat yard to make them fit that are the same height??like old escort runners? looks quite hard to me in your link and im wondering what the finished job would look like. keep us posted

Been for a trial fit on the V8. Looks very promising. Bit awkward as I've not yet cut off the 'side runner' so had to place on outside of seat box. Higher than standard (but I'm the tallest in our family of short arses at 5'9") so shouldn't be a problem. They also 'settle' deeper when you sit on them than the LR ones. Probably because there's foam between backside and seat box. The luxury! I'm going soft in my old age?

Unexpected bonus was the seat belts, they were identical and clipped together no problem, I've bought new belts before to find a wide variety in the types of connector used by Land Rover so sod's law states that Citroen would be the same.

Sorry about photo quality, mobile phone in dimly lit barn.

Blimey your gonna be high up there!!! it is mostly trial and error, you did the right thing by trial fitting them in first ,i hope you get it fully sorted and enyoy them!!

It's not as bad as it looks. The foam compresses quite a lot. They're also positioned 'where they landed'. On the Citroen you're basically sat on the floor with legs out horizontal (exaggeration but not much), so the seat base is high at the front. The 110 seat box slopes slightly backwards which exaggerates this. For 'proper' fit I'll lift the back of runners on a spacer to make seat base horizontal.

This may mean that care needs to be taken when you release the adjusting handle 'cos it's going to want to slide forward? We'll see.

I reckon you can get it level as good as spot on,i dont think it will slide forward, You know what would be good but probably a waste of money () if you had them covered in the same trim as the originals, bet it would cost a fortune though

Oh! They'll get covered all right! At the last MOT the inspector opened the door with one of those paper seat protectors in hand, took one look, put the paper away and went to put his boiler suit on before he'd sit in it .
