Hi

I'm round my mates........................

He is changing his engine oil on a 2001 D110 Td5..............

Can't remember the correct quantity of oil to put back in.

I think it's 7.5 L

Can someone confirm this cause I'm have a "blonde moment" and my mind is blank

I think it's 7L when just changing just the oil................

but he has changed his 2 engine oil filters as well, so i think you allow an extra 0.5L

Just not sure

I keep telling him to bye a workshop manual <_<

I feel a right twit having to ask this online

I thought it was 7.2 but not sure...

Suggest slop in 7L and look at the dipstick seeing as that is wot it is there for.... :P;)

No idea on oil pressure. More than a V8 :)

Cheers BogBuster

Thank you for taking the time to answer mate :)

We did put in 7l in the end and fired her up for a few mins.........

Then checked the dip stick but that seemed to be almost dry.

The Problem with the Td5 is, the manual recommends running the engine on tick over for 5 mins b4 checking the dipstick for a level.

I have checked to find out for definate when I got home (I have workshop manuals for my own Defender but not with me when I posted this thread earlier). We are a little out. It's an 8.2L refill when changing filters as well........

plus a tiny bit more to allow for the capillary pipe to gauge

The reason that I couldn't remember for definate is, my own Td5 has a slighter larger capacity again from 8.2L to allow for an additional turbo guard oil tank. Ever since I have fitted that, I can never seem remember the exact quantities involved.

Link for the website with the correct info............

Can't believe I didn't think of Martins website b4 posting this thread

But then, I didn't have a good day or feel well earlier :(

Still need to know what oil pressure he should idealy looking for from his new gauge.

Regards, g :)

For a ball park the pressures for a 2.6l are 8 -12# at idle [and the idiot light], runs 40 -60# pressure relief ~50# at 30 mph on a hot engine. Ask me why I know this off the top of my head, go ahead I dare you :(

BTW my pressure problem is BACK :angry::angry::angry::(:(:(:(:blink::blink:
