The MoT is testing for safety rather than mechanical completeness, there is no reason for them to fail it, even if you left the front axle intact. I believe there are quite a few freelanders driving about these days with no rear propshaft, with no issue - the afore mentioned fridgefreezer is one that I know of.... I used it as my daily driver for 7 years and so drove most of the time with it removed to save fuel. Was a pain having to put it back on to go offroading though. Technically though, just an idea, if I wanted to keep her RWD I could delete the Series Box+T'box and run a RWD LT77, assuming i can find a decent one to start with from a SD1 or TR7.
