JST
ok, so mine decided to seize and on stripping it i noticed the exhaust impeller is slightly damaged (on or two fins are bent at the ends) its back together and now works, although whistles as expected (due to damage) under load, however some queries: 1. can it still be used ok in this unbalanced state? 2. can you get replacment exhuast impellers, can anyone recommend a supplier??? i know really the 'proper' answer is change it but as a complete turbo unit is £455 + VAT or closer to £800 from a dealer i am hesitant to do so if it can be used as is. yes for £500 i can live with the whistling. PS driving 700miles without a working turbo is not an enjoyable experience! - mpg suffered a bit as well!!!! the cause of the initial problem has now been resolved - dont ask. white90
AR Turbo Engineering they rebuilt my Turbo it came back llike brand New 01924 477747 they get a courier to collect rebuild then return in a turn around service. they are Garrett approved dealers and can replace just the impellar(probably bearings as well) Not a DIY job as they are balanced at Very high RPM. mine cost in the region of £300 for new impellar/bearing housing set up etc delivered what went in there then? siggy
leaving it unbalanced will probably cause undue wear in the bearing ending up killing the turbo and damaging the engine replace
