oggie27_3 Posted January 1, 2009 Share Posted January 1, 2009 hi all and a happy new year. well the gearbox on my disco has decided to make lots of noise in 5th. sounds like its trying to rip the shaft out! so i have been looking at ashcroft transmissions for a replacement. i notice they do a same day fitting which will suit me, has anyone used this service with them? due to lack of facilities not able to do it myself unfortunatly. the trouble is luton is about 1.5hr from me in tidworth. does anyone know of a place closer in tidworth/salisbury area as i dont really want to travel too far as i dont want to use 5th. max of 50mph in 4th! if not i will have to ring ashcrofts when they re-open for the new year. so i need a garage in the salisbury/tidworth area to supply and fit an r380 td5 disco gearbox in one day for as cheap as possible. and i would rather have a reconditioned rather than 2nd hand box i cant complain about the car, it has done 126000 miles, i have had it 4 months, with only minor problems until this, oh and it was really cheap with 12 months mot. the minor problems i have sorted are: full service replace exhaust manifold inc gasket and 2 studs new fan belt sorted the leaking sunroofs ace leak pas resivoir cap renewed 2 new tyres and a sticking door catch many thanks in advance jon Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
