Crane gantry rsj size?

Hi Guys.

I need to construct a hoist system at ceiling height to move 150kg max, over an area 2.8m x3.6 m but cant find what size rsj to use.

I was thinking two RSJ paralel along two sides and one rsj at 90 degrees to these, so a trolley mounted hoist could access most of the space. (sorry can't draw this on here)

So I have a load hanging from one span of 2.8m which is supported by two spans of 3.6m supported both ends in brickwork (if that makes more sense?)

Would a SWL of 300kg be overkill to move a max of 150 kg?

Any pointers of where to find info greatly appricated as I've been trying to sort this for the last 3 years!

Thanks in advance

Feltham

The two long spans could be smaller steel supported at more points along their lengths given it is only the top surface that is used for the carriage beam to run on.

For lifting the safety factor is normally 6 times the working load so for your 150kg you would need 900kg capacity to give you a SWL of 150kg.
