Fitting 4 pin - Machining?

Recommended Posts

Right here goes,

I have got 4 pin diffs to go into my existing diff casings. The crown wheel bolts right on but i have been told i have to machine the diff to make it fit the casings. Is this something that any one has done before? Fitting them in my 90 200 tdi as stronger, they are 24 spline so know i will have to buy uprated shafts to fit my CV's (as existing 10 spline)

any help would be appreciated!

yeah its a simple job, bolt the crown wheel to the 4pin centre, drop it all in the casing and you will soon see where it hits the casing, just get the grinder out and 'machine' it down.

what did you do about bearings as they are different sizes? 4 pin has bigger bearings.

i dont remember coming accross that problem....unless you can just replace them with rangey type?? or is the centre bigger?

they're bigger for 24 spline, think i have got to the bottom of it, will only fit in metric (i.e 24 spline) diff casings. so looks like gotta cahnge the casings as well! never simple.
