DubMart
Allright, Ive been on the forum for a while and have had my disco about 3-4 weeks now, so thought i best post a thread up finally and introduce myself Martin, 19 from Guildford Surrey, Its a 95 300tdi 116k 3 door. I picked it from a dealer near me totally standard when i bought it. So far ive done: 31/10.50 r15 Khumo KL71's on 15" modular steelies Removed all carpet/sound deadening trimmed the front bumper removed rear bumper removed tow bar Removed EGR valve and cleaned intercooler, inlet manifold and all the pipes. It has the usuall problem of rotten boot floor, and some rust in the drivers footwell, but apart from that the rest of it is rust free Here are some pictures from last weekend when we went laning: Only problem ive got is a slight oil leak, i found that the rocker cover seal was leaking abit the other week, so i replaced the seal but it is still leaking is there a chance i may have over tightened the bolts? As i know there only meant to be something like 10nm torque? Its leaking at the back of the cover seal to be specific. Any help would be great cheers Martin. DubMart
CURLY, we started off in bordon i think and ended up in Aton, so all over the place 1 Lane a remember is called Water Lane which was really good. pinny, did you remove your cover then run a bead of silicone round the edge, then put the cover n seal back on? Or just put silicone round it while it was still on? cheers Martin.
Les Henson
I think that if you over-tighten the rocker cover, it distorts the cover and creates weak spots that then leak. A thin bead of RTV sealant around the new seal as Pinny says will most likely fix it. Worth checking that the oil seperator/engine breathing pipework is clear at the same time - pressure build-up will push oil out as well. Les. Rolly
I wouldn't worry too much about the oil leaks, they're factory fitted from new.
