TheRecklessEngineer
I remember being told to use 10W40 engine oil in a series gearbox. I've just checked the manual and it states EP90. Which is it?
rtbarton
EP90 GL4, not GL5
TheRecklessEngineer
Thanks. What's the difference between GL4 and GL5? I have GL5, but I'd need to go hunting for GL4.
Rich_P
Different properties, GL5 would cause components to corrode in the gearbox (not sure if it was bronze parts or what). Some say that the latest GL5 products have additional additives to stop this happening, but personally I would say stick to GL4 spec if you can.
