hobson
Don't know if it's the same vehicle but i remeber seeing one of these going to the Sultan of Rrunei, along with a couple of other custom made vehicles, namely a Bently Arnage 4x4 built onto a Range Rover chassis and a Ferrari 355 estate for his wife! (pointless or what?!) i have a few friends who work out that way, i also got a picture of a completely chrome plated Mercedes SLR recently, even the windscreen had some kind of chrome look coating on it! just shows, money doesn't buy taste! (apart from the Rangie...)
bill van snorkle
Spotted on ebay, nothing to do with me !http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1974-ROVER-RANGE-ROV...%3A1%7C294%3A50 Looks like a pretty unique vehicle ! The actual 6x4 conversion is not really that rare. I think one was even offered as an option by the Rover special Vehicles Division themselves for fire tenders etc. They weren't particularly successful. The non driving axle and limited inter axle articulation was a crosscountry performance killing liability, and it makes more sense to use a larger inherantly stronger built 4wd if heavier bulkier loads are to be carried offroad. BogMonster
There is a 6x4 Defender based airport fire appliance here dating from the mid 90s which I think was probably built by SV
