VCU Damper

Hi can anyone explain to me what the VCU Damper does?

I thaught i had problems with my Vcu but noticed it was the damper that was damaged not the Vcu. I have done the tipex test on the vcu and it appears to be working but the damper is damaged and i have done a temp repair with tape to hold it together.

I need to change my vcu bearings and thaught i would do the damper at same time! Iam not even sure what it does or how it comes off. Iam not sure, and i may be wrong but does it reduce vibration? When driving, i dont get any vibration?

Can someone explain to me how this thing works and what its for?

Many thanks

Yeah it is there to reduce vibration. From my 2nd year engineering science, they use the principle of angular momentum just like a flywheel.
