Sabre
I have a tappet cover leak at the rear of the engine, driver side. Have replaced the tappet cover gasket, but no change. Breather is open & clean Did I miss a special trick in fitting the gasket ? Thanks in advance JZ
cipx2
Check if the rocker cover is not warped (both cold and warm) and gradually increase the torque on the nuts, see http://forums.lr4x4.com/index.php?showtopic=37916
Les Henson
300TDi rocker covers easily distort - I've had them leak even with a new gasket. I now use a thin bead of rtv sealant on either the old or new gasket. Save the rest of the rtv for when you get a TD5 - they do it too Les. Thanks for the advice cipx2 and Les I have tried rtv sealant, no success. Will torque evenly to 25Nm when hot, and see if there is a difference
