D2 Replacement BCU

I've been tracing a couple of faults around my car which I believe I have tracked back to the BCU. I have a known good replacement to swap in. My nanocom is currently on the blink. Is it possible to swap the new BCU in without programming assistance??

Sorry to butt-in on this thread but I'm about to tackle my first BCU replacement using a Nanocom on a 1999 Discovery TD5. It is a second-hand BCU rather than a new unit.

Can I confirm that the procedure should be:

1. Attempt to backup-up the existing BCU programming via Nanocom.

2. Disconnect main battery.

3. Disconnect and replace BCU.

4. Reconnect main battery.

5. Program the key fobs (Valeo module in Nanocom).

6. Set the EAK code (Valeo module in Nanocom).

7. Sync the speedo (Valeo module in Nanocom).

8. Program the immobiliser???

Two questions:

What's involved in programming the imobiliser?

Is there anything else I'm missing?

Thanks.

Thanks for the info. I've read that and was hoping to download a saved configuration to the "new" BCU and wondered if the alarm security code would be part of that download?

Basically the reason I'm swapping the BCU is because the fobs are not being recognised (I've installed a brand new RF receiver to no avail) but I'll need a working fob to do the "security code learn" function of the Nanocom ECU module. Potentially expensive catch 22 :)
