HDC fault

Hi I'm wondering if anyone can help I've been reading quite a few different forums regarding a continuing problem with a HDC fault. I have a Disco 3 2007 it seems that there is a fault with my one i can drive for a while then my dashboard starts to light up like a Christmas tree and says HDC system fault , special programs failure, Vehicle lowering the only way i can fix it is by pulling over and turning my engine off then back on. By reading different forums i have come to the obvious conclusion that there is a fault with a hell of a lot of disco's i'm wondering why they have not been recalled as i had it recalled over the braking system what does it take for Land rover to hold there hands up and say there is a problem. i have had it looked at by a dealership who said it was a dead battery so they charged it up cleared the faults and said it is ok so i took my car home to find two days later it happened again. I also have developed another problem with the middle sunroof the blind that pulls across will not stay closed when i took it to the dealership i was told its because i have a DVD fitted in the roof lining which was a DVD that fitted by Land Rover and its the one that is sold by them in there accessories Magazine. The weight of the DVD is pulling the roof lining down they said that the clip it fits into is fixed to the roof itself and the roof lining has to be taken out and also the windscreen as you cant get the roof lining out any other way. I absolutely love my disco but Land Rover themselves are much to be desired considering Toyota are going through a rough patch and also the current climate you would think they would be going out of there way to keep customers happy. My warranty has now ran out and Land Rover want £1200 to extend it somehow i don't think i will be extending it. Sorry for it being so long but i feel very strong about these issues THANKS Colin :) :)

About the HDC fault.

The 'replacing the battery' fix is for when the HDC fault occurs on cold start ups.

As the fault, in your case, is long after you start the engine, possibly the voltage drops in mid flight - like alternator/charging fault, much too many electrical accesories/lights (extra audio boosters installed?) running with the engine at very low rpms.

Try using the sat nav to monitor the voltage or wire a voltmeter to keep an eye on what's happening.

Most likely to be a wiring fault, there is a multiplug behind the front lefthand wheelarch liner that gets corroded. Later models have a modified loom to cure the problem. You need to drop the front left wheelarch liner, and pull the plugs and check for corrosion on the pins. Other possibility is a wheel speed sensor at fault. Ideally, you need someone who has a diagnostic kit, and who knows how to interpret the faults.

Thanks its been into Land Rover 5 times with the same fault in total they have had it for 11days and keep saying its a low battery or its not charging its going in again on the 24th i just want to get as many ideas as possible as i only get about 15miles and the fault kicks in and lowers all the suspension and the special programs don't work so i have to turn the engine off to reset it its driving me insane.  but thanks for you reply i will let them know

Colin
