LDRover
Hi, Can anyone tell how much work is involved in removing the roof from a discovery 200/300. Thanks.
Orgasmic Farmer
About 20 angle grinder disks should do it. It is steel and is welded to the inner frame see! It does not unbolt like early range rovers do!
DefcoL
As above but i can play that tune in just 15x disks, 1x hacksaw blade, 1x 2.5lb hammer and a laser marker to make sure precision cuts are made, if you don’t cut exactly to the shape of the replacement it wont fit. Then you have the fun of trying to weld on the replacement. My guess is that it would interesting at best. Q; why do you want to remove it? LDRover
I would like a flat roof, when laning seem to have more trouble with my disco roof that others with 90's or 110's.
gripper
can you cut off the hump using slitting discs (take your time and let the grinders weight cut the roof or the disc will shrink in seconds) then just weld a flat skin on top? you'll lose loads of height in the rear though and you'll have to junk the headlining. can't say i've ever had any problems at all with either of my discos when laning. what problems does it cause apart from trees scratching the roof? and if you're wanting to cut it off then having it scratch free isn't foremost in your mind
milliejasper1111
Ive got a full lengh rack on mine, and i think it "saves to roof if anything" when off road, You could always chuck a chainsaw in the boot!
LDRover
I must go down the wrong lanes, come very close to putting a few large dents in it.
