1998 freelander alarm-immobiliser problem

hi, having a problem starting my 1998 freelander.i unlock the car as normal, no problem.... put the key into the ignition and turn it on and wait for the normal lights on the dashboard to go out.turning the key to start the car nothing happens...after a few attemps it will start. can anyone help.

I had this for a while on my defender... it turned out I had a sticky starter relay. I know its a completely different vehicle and I have no idea if the Freelander setup is similar or not, but it may give you another avenue of investigation if the obviose hasn't solved your problem.

thanks very much for your input,i have someone looking at it on 16-3-10, and i will put that to him, fingers crossed,i will let you know the out come many thanks.

had a guy out to fix my car,i had mentioned about the sticky starter relay, which he checked and was seen to be ok.in the end it was the ignition switch,so i have my beloved lanny on the road again. thanks very much for your help
