Marco
The front axle casing of my Defender needs replacing (leaking diff pan etc.), it's an 1989 model 127/110 axle. For some reason it's difficult to get a replacement part, does anybody know where to look, which company to contact? All sugestions welcome. I might also consider swapping a complete axle or just axle casing and differential. Cheers Marco
jbs
you can buy replacement diff-pan's from here http://www.steve-parker.co.uk/proddetail.php?prod=SPCK210&cat=12 Or you could follow hybrid from hells own creation using I believe a Toyota diff-pan which is at least 4x thicker than the standard land rover one HTH John
Marco
Thanks, I'm actually looking for a complete casing, do not want to weld onto this axle. It's a 1989 one and has been up and down trough Africa on a 2.5 year trip.. it's time to replace :-) I've found a complete casing at the lrseries website.. not cheap but will probably last for another 20 years! Maverik
Would it not be cheaper to buy a 2nd hand front axle then strip and re-build? Something to note/check: earlier axles have narrower front rad arm mounts - also imperial bolts that hold the calipers on.
Maverik
Just spotted this.... they may courier it across for you? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Land-rover-90-110-front-axle-case-/270602316333?cmd=ViewItem&pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3f0127aa2d
