First fabrication project

Hi All,

I'm planning my first fabrication project, i'm going to make a cubby/battery/tool box to go in the back of my 90, to be fixed behind the bulkhead. I was going to make it from square bar, chequar plate with some edging strips to make it nice and neat. I need some advice on making a lid for it, what kind of hinges are good to use and also I need to devise a way of keeping the lid shut.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, hopefully i'll get some pics up once he planning stage is over!

My box (made out of ply by the previous owner) uses a piano hinge as is secured using 2 spring fasteners like http://www.protex.com/product/show/name/20-1066
