toon69
hi i recently bought a freelander with the bmw diesel 2.0 ltr engine and its running fine but ive found the air con pump is still running even when its switched off.the garaged have sincetold me its because i leave the temp control switch on for the windscrean or screan/body.is this correct and will my mpg be higher?thx
Mr Bean
That is correct. The air con will run when you point the air at the windscreen. The air con dries the air and helps to keep it mist free. The mpg will not be affected drastically IMO.

Blippie
... IIRC this only when the engine is cold. Once it has reached operating temp, the aircon switches off. That's my recollection, but it's Bern a while since I read the manual. Blippie
