stainless fairlead

i was thinking of useing steel cable for recovery of others on play days & saving my marlow ropes just for compitions

what damage would i do if i was to use a steel cable on a stainless fairlead.

Whatever fairlead you use it should be a different one for plastic and steel ropes, so whilst you are changing it you might as well use a roller for steel and stainless for plastic.

I bought Dyneema because it's lighter and safer, I wouldn't want to go back to steel. That said I hardly use it now and it doen't stay on the truck at all so hasn't UV aged.
