amirulbahri
Hello there, This is my first posting and in need of assistance. A couple of weeks ago, my TD5 started to have a rattling noise. Initially thought it was the water pump but upon closer inspection found out that the viscous fan bearings had come loose and required to be removed. So I removed the radiator, and the fan and found that the bearings had pretty much been chewed up. The inner ring came out easily together with the bearings, but the outer ring is stuck. I can't seem to remove it. Any ideas? Do I use an angle grinder to cut it out? Cheers Amirul
Dannytd5
Oh dear if you get like a puller and weld it it the inside of the outer baring you will get it out or weld a cheap slide hammer to it If not it's looking like the angle grinder
davek0974
If mig welding is available, run a bead around inside the ring, when it cools it should contract and the ring will fall out.
eddyoz
Even a stick welder will do the job.......just an inch of weld will shrink it enough....easy job!
