RustyNissanPrairie
Recently bought a second hand 200tdi Lt77 'box with stripped mainshaft (for rebuild)-trouble is after scraping an inch thick layer of mud and gunk off it turns out it has no serial number on the area where it should be. The area looks nice and smooth-so either somebody is a really dab hand with a grinder or they've milled it off, or it never had anything there in the first place? Anyone else ever had this? western
might be a replacement case that was never stamped.
RustyNissanPrairie
does anyone know how I check what suffix/gearbox it actually is without it having a serial number?

RustyNissanPrairie
just says to check the nameplate. Have emailed Ashcrofts to see what the score is. Only bought it to save the £200 core charge as I want to change from my 51A military box with low 1st and 2nd to a 200tdi spec box.
