jon62
Hi driving along last week & all of a sudden the engine stops,so I pulled over into a handy layby & the engine turns over but not a sniff of trying to start. After towing back home and some investigation, the timing chains are still intact, as the cam shaft moves, there is power to the stop solenoid, the is fuel to the injection pump, but no fuel from a slacked off injector. So is my FIP knackered or is an ECU not talking to the FIP issue? Running out of ideas now
jon62
It was a broken crankshaft, I have now replaced the block with an Omega one, retaining all off the P38 electrics, sump, flywheel, fuel pump,no4 injector ETC, Now it runs, but is very down on power until the revs to 2 or 3 thou, It also stalls if you let the revs drop down to tic over suddenly, and last night upon starting there was no throttle at all for 2-3 mins just tic over?? What have I done wrong?
pete3000
sound like a missing engine/fuel sensor, or a crank position sensor. The fact it fires and runs means there can only be one or two things left to sort. have you tried the rave book. Section19 Pete
jon62
Might have to bite the bullet and buy a new crankshaft position sensor (£86) , I had come to the conclusion that would be the most likely suspect, unfortunately I damaged the P38 one when separating the engine and gearbox. And yes I have read cover to cover section
