ashtray
Worrying item on eBay http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/290517183711?ru=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%3A80%2Fsch%2Fi.html%3F_from%3DR40%26_trksid%3Dp5197.m570.l1313%26_nkw%3D290517183711%26_sacat%3DSee-All-Categories%26_fvi%3D1&_rdc=1#ht_1696wt_113 Hope it doesn't end up in the wrong hands... On a lighter note, a mate of mine at work said the police raided a yard in Kent and found 38 stolen defenders along with many other stolen parts. I hope they all find their rightful owners! UdderlyOffroad
Why is this worrying? I may be wrong (and I'm sure an adult will be along to correct me), but disabling the immobilizer is a feature available when you use one of the more expensive diagnostic machines, such as Nanocom. Overlanders and the like make use of this feature, for maximum field availability. Presumably the seller is doing this so the ECU will be a 'drop-in' replacement for the buyer. Seems like a high price though...surely £500 notes would get you a decent remap from a specialist? And said specialist could revert to a 'known good' map should it all go belly up? ashtray
More that the immobiliser is the last defense after the pathetic door locks, the immobiliser is the only thing stopping people driving off with your landy, all they have to do is swap your ecu... FridgeFreezer
You really think the pros would bother with that, it takes far too long. The thing can be on a low-loader and away in seconds without touching the door lock let alone the ECU.
