kevrobbins
Hi All,help needed, I was towing my off roader today down to bordon a journey of about 85 miles, after about a hour & a half the gearbox over heat light on the dash cam on & then I could smell oil. So at the next layby I pulled in to check it out & found that there was oil under the car but it was not running out from any where.I waited about 10 minuts & carried on my journey with no problem & returned home some hours later.I am thinking that it just got hot & blew some oil out the breather( if there is one ? ) Is this common ? when towing heavy loads ? ... or have I got real problems ? Any info please .... many thanks KR
BogMonster
The ZF auto is not unknown to suffer overheating with towing heavy loads. You certainly want to get the level checked and topped up if it has lost some, but I'm not sure if it is "common" to blow oil out when this happens.
