Bigant
The ignition barrel has gone on our Disco 1 and we have been told that you can only get them from Land Rover and the part alone is £380! Does anyone know if this is the case or are there lower cost options out there? The nice AA man has rigged up a way that we can still start and drive the vehicle using a 30amp fuse as a key! peterdon
The part no is STC1435 for 1995 on. They are available for around £30 +VAt from the likes of Paddocks, Rimmers etc. If you do a search there are threads on how to replace one. teabag
Fit a s/h one with a different key is a lower cost option, also take the item to a vehicle locksmith for repair.
fozsug
http://www.island-4x4.co.uk/steering-lock-ignition-switch-stc1435-p-1065.html Just bought one of these for mine as the thieving scumbags broke mine when trying to steal the Disco the other night. Quailty is good wires correct size fits well.
