I found these on eBay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PIC32-LCD-Colour-3-2-Touch-Screen-BASIC-RTC-SDCard-/310331753988?pt=UK_BOI_Electrical_Components_Supplies_ET&hash=item484136c604

It is a programmable touch screen LCD module. It can be programmed in C or with the built in BASIC - so should be easy and it has plenty of memory for a decent program. Better than that however is it has 9 free I/O lines which can be set up as analogue or digital.

I figure this makes a great base for digital dash type applications - particularly with the touch screen and user programmability. It would be easy to stick it in a waterproof enclosure too.

It has a USB and serial - so has the potential to talk to a GPS and ODB2 - and even Megasquirt.

It even has a battery backed real time clock!

It just seemed to offer so many possibilities in one, cheap module that I thought I should share it with you!
