zimaria
I own a Freelander 1 Td4 2006 model but the vehicle is in the Caribbean. The handbook indicates that the most suitable oil is 10W40 semi-synthetic for Europe. Does any know what oil is best suited for the tropics considering its 28C (on average year round)? FridgeFreezer
I am told by my mechanic that the revised recommendation these days is fully-synthetic.
zimaria
Okay, just that fully synthetic may be more expensive than semi-synthetic. But back to the original question, given that the recommended oil is 10W40 in Europe where the temperature various drastically between winter and summer, do I still need to use a mult-grade oil since in the Caribbean the temperature varies much less? For example, can I use a single grade such as SAE40 or a different multi-grade such as 5W40? Any ideas? Note: average temperature is 28C but can be vary between 24C to 30C.
