200 Tdi that won't stop

Ok, I'll admit this from the beginning, the 200 Tdi engine is in a series Land Rover.

I've just fitted it and the first ten or so times it has been started all is fine, then just now it won't stop.

I've checked it isn't the stop solenoid wiring by the simple expedient of taking the wire off the pump. I've tried gently tapping the pump in case it is sticking, but that didn't work.

Having stopped the engine by other means I've listened to the solenoid and it goes click when you remove or replace the lead, so something is happening inside the pump.

Anyone got any ideas?

Thanks, guys.

At the moment I am hoping that as it only started doing it a short time after fitting the engine a little bit of grot got into the fuel system, rather than it being the pump actually falling to bits.

Time will tell.

Thanks
