BSF
Ok, I'll admit this from the beginning, the 200 Tdi engine is in a series Land Rover. I've just fitted it and the first ten or so times it has been started all is fine, then just now it won't stop. I've checked it isn't the stop solenoid wiring by the simple expedient of taking the wire off the pump. I've tried gently tapping the pump in case it is sticking, but that didn't work. Having stopped the engine by other means I've listened to the solenoid and it goes click when you remove or replace the lead, so something is happening inside the pump. Anyone got any ideas? Phil Hancock
The injector pump is failing and the swarf is stopping the solenoid from closing fully. Remove the solenoid and have a look for shiney bits in the fuel.

lyron
your going to need a new or recon injector pump, we had the same problem on our 200 tdi disco, not a cheap fix unfortunately, ron.
BSF
Thanks, guys. At the moment I am hoping that as it only started doing it a short time after fitting the engine a little bit of grot got into the fuel system, rather than it being the pump actually falling to bits. Time will tell. Thanks
