mcc1979ian
ok so started stripping the V8 earlier for a rebuild and all's going well so far but when i took the rocker covers off, the inards of the driver side are a really dark (almost blacky/bronzy colour) and the passenger side inards are a really goldy/bronzy colour, just wondering if this is normal below will hopefully be a pic of each but i cant promise as im hopeless at uploading pictures

stuck
How many miles has it done? Wouldn't worry me too much on an old engine.
mcc1979ian
120'000, i have loads o receipts for work done to it since around 38'000 and going by these its been no expense spared
stuck
I'd say that level of discoloration isn't unusual for the mileage. Your rebuilding the engine any way so I'm sure it will be fine.
Team Idris
Looks like it has been regularly serviced to me. As opposed to loads of carbon everywhere
Team Idris
Have a good look at the rockers while in there though. They have steel insert cups, and they wear. On mine they showed up as a pointy ended pushrod instead of a nice ball. And I've never seen another engine do it
mcc1979ian
ok thanks, just wasnt sure when one side was completley different from the other going by the paperwork every time the oil was changed it got an engine flush, was looked after by brownchurch landrovers so may give them a call and see what they can tell me about the motor
