wiring for heated rear windows

Mouse

Recommended Posts

Hi

Just had to fit a 300tdi heated rear window into my 200tdi Disco.

The problem is that on the 200 both the wires are on the same side (near the hinges) and one spade connector is larger than the other but on the 300 one wire is on the hinge side and the other is on the handle side, also both spades are the same size, can anyone tell me what side is what on a 300 i.e live & negative as i dont want to wire it in wrong and shatter another glass.

Thank you

Mouse.

Thanks for the reply, but in the disco 200tdi manual it seems to shows one wire as live and the other as earth which is why i asked.

it also seems that the earth comes from the heated mirrors which i dont think i have unless they come on with the rear window, the wiring also appears to be connected to the indicators ????.

That correct one heating element terminal will have the switched 12v supply and other terminal is the earth, it's you choice which. :)

Earth connections are common that's why wiring diagrams show them connected, some will use the same vehicle terminal point.

Thanks for clearing that up :D .

just wish landrover would make things clearer sometimes as in the wiring diagram it shows i have heated mirrors, maybe not on my version.

if you can adjust them electrically then they will have heat elements behind the mirror, there's no indipendant switch they just heat when the rear window heats , :) .
