Alternator is probably farked, sometimes something goes inside them that means the warning light does not get powered. Check the voltage with a multimeter you should have 12.6-12.8v after it has been sitting overnight with no load, and it should rise quickly to 14.2-14.4v after starting. If it charges ok but just the light is broken, you might decide you can live with it, but more likely is that it isn't charging at all or not properly.
