Chris Davies
I'm just refitting my overdrive and have a new lock washer to use with the castellated nut on the output shaft. The lock washer has 3 tabs but they do not all line up with a 'space' on the castellated nut - is it necessary to remove 2 of the tabs leaving just 1 to bend over? Thanks Chris
rtbarton
Normally you bend the tab nearest to a slot and leave the others on. You may need to trim the tabs down as the OD washer is not the same as standard one. If you don't the OD will not slide into place.
Chris Davies
Thanks Roger, thats what I was finding, the tabs that would not fold stand proud, will trim them down, was just worried that I had missed something!!

All the tabs need to be trimmed slightly, even a bent-over one can foul the OD when you refit it. Give it a try now you've done but if it doesn't fit it could be the tabs or a mis-alignment on the splines, rotating the OD input gear will sort that one.
