Key fobs

Recommended Posts

Hi all

i have two questions to ask

1/ I have a 02 defender td5 which seems to have a "normal" key and no key fobs, no central locking, how do I set the alarm (green box behind the speedo)

2/ I have only one key is it possable to get one cut without the fobs.

forgive me if the question sound daft but after reading the net I am totally confused.

thanks Graham.

My TD5 has a Clifford afterfit alarm. One of my fobs broke and I found a little business in the west mids who programmed a new fob off the vehicle. Think you can get keys cut locally.

Maybe your immobiliser has been deactivated?

You need to get it fully alarmed and suggest you also get a Disklok or similar, or you will lose it to thieving lowlifes

Welcome to the forum Graham.

My last Td5 was a farmers spec one with just a normal key - getting duplicate keys was as simple as having one cut.

To activate the alarm immobiliser you will need to buy the right type of fob - and then have the alarm function turned on within the ECU.

That's something that can be done with a Nanocom device - whereabouts are you ? As a number of members have them.

Failing that a local independent dealer should be able to do it for you.
