qwakers Posted September 20, 2015 Share Posted September 20, 2015 hi guys, whats the most likely cause of this leak? its not the drive flange seal but im not too familiar with the setup of the rear axle 24 spline discovery axle. its leaking a lot, it left a fair puddle when parked for a hour. thats what it looked like 30 secs after cleaning it up so i could turn it round without contaminating the brakes. vulcan bomber Posted September 20, 2015 Share Posted September 20, 2015 Inner hub seal by the looks of it. Might be worth checking the axle breather first. To get the hub seal you need to remove drive flange, caliper, and hub, the seal is in the back of the hub. You'll need simple tools plus a box spanner and some grease. Could be a blocked breather pressurizing the case when it's hot and blowing the oil out, could be knacker seal, could be knackered seal land, could be all three!
