Which front bumper after damaging mine off road, Face lift or HD

My front bumper is a pre-facelift and I destroyed it at sibbertoft Sunday, it was ok all day until I ventured off into the wooded area into some bomb holes I've now got to decide what bumper to fit etc.

It was the first time I've taken it off-road and was amazed how good it was standard, except for the 18" BFG at. I do plan on taking it off road again or down some green lanes in the future so I don't feel spending £300-£400 on a second hand pre-facelift bumper is a wise choice although I do prefer the look of it over anything else. I have looked at fitting a facelift front bumper as they are similar price but what are they like off-road for approach angles etc as they are shorter than the pre-facelift? I then Also need to look at spending on face lift lights to match.

I've also considered a HD front bumper or winch bumper as I do have a superwinch LP1000 in the garage that was bought for my RRC years ago and never fitted. I'm just not that into the off-road look on the D2 as I'm trying to keep it standard looking. I'm trying not to fall into that trap of fitting this and then another part and before I know it I've built a Tonka truck. I did that with my RRC and although it looked awesome it didn't drive awesome on road, my D2 is an everyday vehicle at present and a potential tow vehicle for a future business venture.

I've looked at the Shadow winch bumper and also the Torque performance Rock bumper with optional discreet winch tray for future fitting or their winch bumper. I think these are the best of the bunch when it comes to looks with HD bumpers.

What are people's views and opinions, also any pics you could add of options would be much appreciated :)

How's things mate. My D2 had been overlanded and instead of a steel bumper everything below the leading edge of the factory bumper had been cut clean off. It looked neat and had a much better approach angle. I wanted fog lights (and to get rid of those rotten blue spots) and after a bit of ringing around the breakers I got a factory bumper with one fog light still in it for €80, so shop around and you might be surprised.

Yeah you'll get that with a standard car whilst off-roading. Seeing what it can do is too addictive. I completely messed up the rear quarters on my two door the first time I went off-roading and I was on a high but so Mildly miffed off with myself. Still am seeing as I've bought two sets of replacements since and neither are as clean as my originals were.

Yes mines back to factory but I have neglected to mention that I clipped someone in the meantime too when a pedestrian stepped into the road on a corner being taken by the car in front.

Looks like you're halfway to how my original bumper was. Is the top half cracked? You could cut off what's left of the bottom section in the meantime to see how you feel about it.
