However now you've said that you are tow-starting, that puts a whole different angle on it because of course you are then bypassing all electrical contributions (and obstacles) to the starting process. Just cranked as if the battery was flat. Was gona drop test the glow plugs then stood looking at it thinking why would the old loom have a feed for the glow plug but no relay. Jumped back in and turned the key then realised the glow plugs activate through the key on a 1986. Hey presto started no probs.
