Disco 2 Td5 buying

Hi guys,

I've had quite a few LR's, but now I'm looking at a 1999 D2 with the Td5 engine. It's done 176000 kms(abt. 120000 miles).

What should I look for, and where?

Where's the ECU placed in that car btw?

Thanks,

/tony

There's been a few topics on this quite recently - scroll down the Discovery forum before we all set off again, but this was the last one - Td5 buying advice

Regarding the ECU, it's under the passenger seat on UK cars, but I don't know whether it swaps sides with LHD or not.

Yup, I read it already. Thought there might be more suggestions though.

Thanks

Hi

Be very careful when sorting out the price as the 4x4 market is in a bit of a freefall at the moment due to the uncertainty about the road tax

My neighbour bought an 04 reg Td5 six months ago for £12.500 and when he went to look for something else yesterday he found that all local garages were offering £2500 LESS than the current book price!

One dealer offered him £6500 for it.

He is now thinking it might be better just to keep it till it falls apart.

No problems with road taxes around here, they are through the roof as always. A D2 Td5(without rear seats) costs abt. £900 a year if you use it for personal transportation. If you register it in a company, it's about £400/year.
