  1. G&T project is moving along my list of stuff is growing but we are on track hopefully by April to be on the road. Spec is super high at the mo but I want it as an every day driver but to feel tight, fast, capable and modern. Once I've done this one I had an interesting chat with a co that makes high end carbon panels MK two may just reduce its kerb weight by 100kg + It may also end up being Phoenix Orange! (depending on how brave I'm feeling) Seat update choice is Jaguar XK items super supportive, comfy and electric! Just negotiating a set
  2. Hi Guys I am continuing my project and I am having some cad design done however my car is away at mo so need some dimensions checked. If you have a set of technical drawings that would be awesome, if not if one of you could help me that would be most helpful. See the attached image and its tags. For now I need the following dimensions in mm A Upper body line between line and bottom of C post B Tail light height back edge C Lower body line minimum height between body line and bottom edge of bumper D Lower body front edge of wheel arch and door aperture E Door length along top body line F Measurement between body lines G Wing length along shut line between door and indicator H Panel behind bonnet and below screen I Panel as per H above but in middle of car bottom of screen to bonnet (realise there is air vent in way but best you can get) J Front indicator height at back edge. Thank you for your help in advance!
  3. Yes I agree, I'm budgeting for about £12-15K for the engine and gearbox so should be enough. This is where my debate about the V8 original comes in. I have some experience in both tuning and hybrid tech I've looked at electric super chargers in particular. The key with any engine you blow is to avoid lean mixes and the rover v8's jacket is super thin so riding it of additional heat leaves you with a few options which get increasingly more technical eg water injection. Electric superchargers are clever little beasts because you can mount them where ever you like (no pulleys) so can just use a modified intake manifold rather than a plenum chamber such as you find on most mechanical ones so you can route air in a much more even way.
  4. I'm talking to the likes of ashcroft my understanding that the standard unit is set up for up to a couple of hundred however the torque amount is more relevant if going for auto. It will need mapping to match the engine otherwise the shift pattern will be all over the place with the torque converter locking up way too early. If I go for LS or Ford then I'll use a ZF 5 or 6 speed but that creates a whole load of pain in the calibration. Obviously the transfer boxes will need a little bit of work along with half a plan for a rear LSD.
  5. mmh good question gut feeling is its good for 320 but whether thats achievable reliably is a different question. I have this thing that part of me wants to keep it original however part of me thinks just sod it and put a supercharged jag/RR/ford or LS7 lump in it and have 500+
  6. This is a two door original so no abs etc and I'm looking at a 4.6 lump so 300+ hp although I have been looking at both supercharged ford crates and GM LS7/9 like all these things there is a weight and weight distribution penalty/compromise along with costs because the gearbox etc would also need changing.
  7. yes I've heard that, however the standard calipers are US, so going to replace so thinking big brakes, the issue I know I am going to have is wheels but will probably have them custom made in the states. Just trying to work out a design at moment will probably be 19 or 20"....
  8. I have been researching brake upgrades as my car will have 300+ bhp I've narrowed down a couple of options ie 6 pot calipers from Tarox and AP which offer defender systems will these fit without issues? Any alternate suggestions?
  9. Yes two door, when you say plenty are available in france etc any suggestions as to where? good suggestion though
  10. Next on my list for RR Classic resto is moving the horrible (ineffective) bonnet mounted mirrors on to the doors. I have researched this a bit and there seems to be two styles of mounts one on the door and one in the quarter light on the CSK. I am 21st century modernising the car so want door mounts but I am thinking about alternatives to the ugly mini metro types that seem to persist. So thinking radical thoughts on using merc G wagon items then I get heated and electric.... oh and indicators? Any other suggestions?
  11. Awesome ideas, thats great, off to have a look at those options. Thank you...
  12. Just starting a resto on a two door but I intend to use every day. I hate the front seats as I'm 6'4 also the build is going to completely modernised, I have a list of faults sorry character I need to improve or refine. So seats is the first I thought about putting the later ones in however they don't have (unless I can find csk ones) tilt function. Does anyone have any suggestions of alternatives that are comfortable and in keeping but comfortably modern?
