yep - left the lights on yesterday and four hours later - el deado - charged battery and now ok.
does anyone know of a simple alarm i can install to warn me next time.
cheers
Biog John.
I had to use diff lock yesterday as I was sliding around on a muddy field. I thought I put it back into low gear after leaving the field.
The yellow four-wheel drive lamp stayed on but everything felt like normal - looking at the handbook I saw this thing called
Transmission wind up - I drove forwards and reversed and the light went out.
1, have I done any damage?
2, what if I drove with the diff lock on?
3, is there a way of checking for damage
Cheers

1, is that the unit under the round metal plate held in by 6 screws in the floor near the door.
do i undo the plate to check for diesal?
i recetly had the floor replaced.
2, thanks for part numbers.
cheers
Big John
thanks mate.
i did wonder if it was something like this
1, - i think i may have discovered something - yesterday i put fuel in the truck -
i just put carpet under the truck and parked it on the camber.
after a minute i noticed that two drips started. they are from the fuel tank
it seems as if they are comming from on top of the tank.
put it back on the flat and it stopped.
any ideas?
2, i looked underneath this morning and the hub is coated in muck and oil.
any idea of part number and how hard it is to do.
cheers

i did this job last year - went as sweet as a nut - following the thread pictures.
the bearing i bought was 62032RSR Rubber Sealed Deep Groove Ball Bearing
(Also Known as DDU, DU, LLU, LU, RSH or RS) 17x40x12mm
from SimplyBearings.co.uk it cost under £2.00.
good luck

1, i have noticed that when parked on a road with a camber there appears to be fluid stains on the road under the back axle / diff.
its hard to tell what the fluid is - does not look or smell like diesal.
looking underneath i can tsee anything.
when parked on the level of my drive - not a drip.
i do not have wading plugs in -
any ideas?
2, i noticed tonight that there is some dribble marks on the outside of the front off side wheel -
could this be brake fluid leak ?
what do i check?
cheers
Big John
i raised the original post and to date stgill have not done the job -
it was not just plug in and go - my loom does not match or prewired.
i was lucky the 200 tdi lights i bought had the plug still conected.
i now have to cut into wires and add connectors - not too keen on this
so i am waiting for one of the units to pack up and then i will change them.
Big john
Hi Paul,
i have a 300 tdi - last year i tackled the same job.
i took photos before i started - please see attached.
i also got a set of pictures from the RAVE manual.
if you dont have the rave manual let me know i will try to sort it.
by the way i ended up having to change the cylinder and the remote motor - a complete bas"£$d.
good luck.
Big John.

i am sure i read somewhere in the manual that you need the headlights on - mine have never worked and i have lived with it.
good job not part of MOT.

the heated rear window seems no to be working too well
there is voltage at the two connectors to the window.
does this mean i have to change the glass or is a repair possible
Cheers
