  1. yes i think it should be worth atleast £3000 if you advertise well, internet advertising is not always best because people who look online have other prices they can quickly look up, i find the best way to sell things is put it out the front of the house with a for sale sign on it, seems to generate interest if you live on a busy enough road, i sold a car in 2 days last week after having it out front, just an idea, good luck with selling, and at the last stick it on ebay, land rovers seem cheaper on autotrader than ebay,

  2. Not selling are you SMO???

Very difficult to value especially with a huge drop in 2nd hand car prices...- the extras will not add anywhere near what they cost as well :(

I have the same issue with 'valuing' mine (for insurance purposes)- it is worth far more to me than anyone would ever pay...

my guess is between £3000 - £4000 depending on where you sell it, they seem to be going to cheaply to me, the hardest bit is finding a buyer with enough money at the moment, sounds like a nice truck, good luck

  3. may be worth checking the brake pipes aswell, have you done a rear cross member before becuase it is a big job and takes along time, not worth chopping up your landy before looking into doing it, if you can weld well it should not be a problem, cheers

  4. i took mine to the local land rover garage and they did it for free, but it use them regularly, i have also done it myself on a defender by putting one with correctly adjusted lights next to the other one and put lights on a wall and make then level, hope this helps

  5. i never trust the MOT's if they are being sold with 12months but i would never buy without looking, i do know a couple of places that are very picky for MOT's but atleast you know it will be safe and i know a couple that turn a blind eye so depends where you go.

  6. i have had a look and they look good,

also is there anything that is worth doing to the engine before it is fitted, the speedo ready 30,000 miles but i assume that is 130,000 miles, however it runs sweet and starts easily with no blue or black smoke shown,

is it worth getting it pressure tested etc, thanks

  7. that sounds good then, i have a complete daihatsu with the 2.8td engine and have now aquired a conversion kit,

however i am now concerned abotu the insurance, i was planning to use the nfu who are usually good but do you think they will make the price alot higher if i use a non land rover engine?

    thanks

  8. hello i am thinking of doing a daihatsu conversion on my land rover 110,

it currently has a 2.5 turbo engine

i have the kit required to do the work but is it worth it

has anyone driven this conversion and how is the engine compared to the turbo diesel

once you have the milner kit is there anything else you need

any othe help would be useful, thanks charlie

  9. i would agree, takes lots of fuel filters because the fuel is usally dirty, take a few air filters because they get sandy or a couple to use and a couple to clean, it may be worth getting a black box that clears computer faults but i am not sure how useful it is, spare battery (new) not connected just incase. deffinately plenty of oils, chewing gum to plug up a hole in the radiator works quite well if it is only minor damage, couple of rolls of gaffa tape just incase, may need to boards up a window etc,

hope this helps and some of it may be added to your list, charlie

  10. hi all.

is it possible to mate a R380 onto defender 200Tdi. dispite the R380 6" longer.

can you use the 200tdi bell housing? but then wont the main shaft be longer?

    cheers sam

it will not work with the shorter bell housing, you can get r380 short stick gearboxes but they are rare and expensive. you could mount your engine further forward on the chassis i think but that is not a small job. If i were you i would stick with an LT77 or look out for an R380 short bell housing. hope this helps

  11. i advise you to do it on a hot dry day with little wind because the paint takes really nicely when the car is hot and the paint is thinner. i have done a metal horsebox and i came out really nicely hand painted but only on a hot day. I am planning to do something to mine in the summer. good luck

  12. that was for the defender. Now for the 1962 series 3

    again re seal axle's

    replaces uj's on props

fit the hard top again. rewire most of it (been done badly by previous owner)

finish off welding the new outriggers

    new wiper motors

had it for a few years. been used for off road around the farm and has slowly degraded. had the roof off for the summer and was a good shooting waggon

    needs some care and attention

then MOT, has been sorn for a couple of years due to lack of time. running a nice BMC engine

    thanks charlie

  13. i would also say they are quite simmilar. it will also be easier to find 300's with lower mileage. depends on your budget. also with the 300tdi you will get thr R380 gearbox as standard which is stronger and nicer to use in lots of people's views. you can get them for 200's but are rare and expensive. i think western has one though. cheers

  14. i think a defender or series is best to start with. mainly because there is less wiring, trim and carpets to get in the way and it is easier to weld and work with. however if you want to make a decent off roader and want a proper project go for a tdi disco or v8 range rover and get chopping.
