  1. hello i have been offered a rocky mountain overdrive for £420. this works the same way as a fairey as it is operated by a lever. my td5 is used fir towing and has a low ratio but when not towing i want some speed is this a good deal or is it better to pay more for a gkn. the rocky has done 14,000 miles from new and it has been on a TD5. cheers hope to hear soon.

  2. hello thier is a 110 for sale with a v8 and lpg conversion. however it needs a new chassis. it is worth while sorting if i xan get it for a couple of hundred pounds. do you know how enconomic it will be with a gas conversion and how much it will be worth. it is a c reg by the way so that is about 1984. thanks guys

  3. hello i have just bought TD but it was a 110 for £500 with a shot gearbox. I have had a Td and a 200tdi before. The Td was the smoothist land rover i have been in but they have a tendancy to go pop. however this is only if you let it over heat. some one was driving my one and did not watch the temp guage as there was a cooling link and it went pop. The 200tdi is more powerful and alot more robust. However they are a bumpy ride. if i had a choice of a car to use and not as a project i would buy a tdi hands down. But if you can get a td For £500 cheaper it is worth it. I am taking out my Td engine and putting in a diahatsu engine and gearbox as they are powerful and economic. thanks

  4. hello at the moment you can fit the bench but if your car is newer than 1987 you have to have seat belts fitted. however the official seat belt bar is very expensive. i just bought some belts and bolted them through the bench on mine as it was too expensive to fit the official bars. No one will notice as not many people know the rules. thank

  5. You can buy a cheap mickey mouse one for about £80 reconditioned in shops. i bought one when my good one broke so i had time to get a good deal on a decent one. but i just kept the small one as it did the job. i just cuts out every now and then. thanks

  6. hello i have a diahatsu engine gearbox and transfer box. i have been told all of these will fit straight in. The transfer box has a lever for High neutral and low if this helps. The engine is a 2.8 turbo and it is in a 1987 fourtrak. thanks. will i need to be making any changes to my 110 like cutting footwell etc. i am guessing i need to make new mounts thank you.

  7. i think the best way to add extra fuel tanks is get a plastic bottle or container that is sealed, put it on the roof rack and take a pipe down directly to the engine. This is very good in the desert because you do not have to worry about the fuel pump going wrong as gravity will feed it. but for look i would have one at the back and one under the passenger seat. the old 90's were fitted with then and can be found on ebay. cheers

  8. i have had this kind of thing before. check wires as they come in and out of the bulk head to see if the insulaiton has rubbed off exposing the bare wire. This usually happens in places where there is a sharp edge. if so either replace the wire but i would cut the section out and add a new bit with joining blocks. if there is no room just wrap the worn though bits with electical tape. hope this helps.

  9. well if it was me i would look on ebay to get a good R380 or lt77 depending on year and have it fitted you can find them for as little as £200 for a good one and a company called onlinepallet will courier it foe about £80 from anywhere in the uk. I am also looking at gearboxes for my 110 as i bought it with no gearbox cheers hope this helps

  10. You'll have to get choppy with the passenger foot well, besides that it's pretty straight forward but I'd bin the alternator with separate regulator set up...... Oh squeezing the exhaust in is a bit interesting... Go for it....

How many times has the engine been round the clock.... :D

Luckily it is original as an old man who bought it new and kept it until 2004 when it failed it's Mot. since then we have been using it as a farm car but now the brakes have seized on and a leaf spring has snapped. very sweet engine and it starts every time first compression. thanks for your help

  11. Hello

i have been given a diahatsu 2.8 td to scrap as it is the most rusty car i have ever seen. however the engine is in perfect working order and has only done 33,000 miles. i want to know if it will be an easy conversion into my 110 which has a land rover td but the gearbox and transfer have broken. Will it be easier to fit a landrover engine to the diahatsu engine or keep the diahatsu gearbox with it's engine. thanks

  12. Hi, a lot of 110 for 500 quid!

Do you use Mansfield 4x4 for bits? I find them pretty helpful. I still use them from Sheffield/Cheshire, I used to live across the river at Holbrook.

Yes i do use manfield for bit's they are very good and friendly but can be expensive to fit parts. They also find it hard to get engines and gearboxes for good prices usually but i am planning to enquire. thanks for the suggestion. Charlie

  13. hello guy's

I am having a problem deciding which engine to put into my defender. I have bought a 1985 110 with an intercooled td engine but the gearbox and transfer had gone before i purchased. it was only £500 by the way. i am not sure if i shouold buy a disco 200tdi with gearbox and transfer and transplant it all. just buy a gearbox and transfer for the TD or put in a diahatsu 2.8 td (whole car working but very rusty) which i was given which only has 33,000 miles on it. I am also not sure how easy it will he to transplant and is it worth keeping the diahatsu gearbox with it's engine or going for an LT77 or R380. thanks

    Not bad for £500
