  1. Hi. A stupid thing to do. But when I mounted my new power steering box I forgot to check that the steering wheel was in the right position, and guess what. Today i realised its upside down. Can I fix this somehow without taking the whole steering box out again?

Its a 4 spoke steering wheel on a 1984 Onten with a 4 bolt power steering box..

I guess it should be possible to just remove the steering wheel and then put it back again, turned 180 degres? Or is there any other problems with the stering arm or something that I need to worry about? Everything works fine driving thou, but what do i know...

    Thanks for any tips.

    Cheers

  2. Hi. my 1984 OneTen:s handbrake doesn't work since a long time back and I recon I need it during winter. So I have adjusted the tensioner (on the drum) so that the drum/axel locks, and then released it a tad. Also tensioned the cable so that the handle stops mid way (ruffly). Still the brake doesn't grip. I can't move the drum by hand, but I can easily roll the car if there is a small incline or just by realeasing the clutch on 1st gear... The cable is on the last thread so It can't be tensioned more then it is now...

I am guessing I need to get new brake pads (STC2797) or?

    Thanks for any tips...

  3. Hi. Im fitting a few temp meters to my cars. Can anyone give me the size of the sump plugs so I can order correct adapter to fit with the VDO temp meters?

    LT230 Transfeerbox

    R380 Gearbox TD5

    LT77 Gearbox 200tdi

    Engine sump plug td5

    Engine sump plug 200tdi

The adapters I can choose from are

    3/8 BSP

    M12x1,25

    M12x1,5

    M14x1,5

    M16x1,5

    M18x1,5

I gonna do the classic finger in the whole method. So it would be nice to have the right sizes at hand..

    many thanks

  4. Well. I plugged in a VDO meter, and installed a new intercooler. Also flushed the engine. The water was quite sluggish. I think my metal expansion tank gives away a lot of residues and that pollutes the cooler... Anyway. Now she stays around 70-80 deg and the heater is all of a sudden super warm :)

So all good all fine. The trick with making your own adapter worked like a charm. Thanks for all the advice.

  5. Hmm so something has changed...

Yes. Replaced the head a while ago and the new one is running fine. Its just the temp thats acting up. I don't have my old thermostat to test with, but it would make sense that the one i got from the new head is faulty.. But I can't think of anything else that would cause this, so a new thermostat and a new radiator it is...

  6. Well. I swap it then. And yes its a converted one with a disco 200tdi.. I just figure if the thermostat is open it explains why the engine is not warming up. But not why its overheating when driving heavy. But a new rad is probably a good ide, the old one is missing a lot of fins (or whatever they are called. Thanks for the ideas.

  7. Hi. Can anyone confirm my theory.

My 200tdi never gets warm (stays on maximum first mark) unless I am towing a trailer up a mountain pass, then it gets close to red.

So my theory is that the thermostat is open in some kind of half open state. Sending to much water to the cooler for normal use, but not enough for heavy work.

    Is that possible?

    Thanks
