Hi. A stupid thing to do. But when I mounted my new power steering box I forgot to check that the steering wheel was in the right position, and guess what. Today i realised its upside down. Can I fix this somehow without taking the whole steering box out again?
Its a 4 spoke steering wheel on a 1984 Onten with a 4 bolt power steering box..
I guess it should be possible to just remove the steering wheel and then put it back again, turned 180 degres? Or is there any other problems with the stering arm or something that I need to worry about? Everything works fine driving thou, but what do i know...
Thanks for any tips.
Cheers

Im staying with the drum. But I need to fix it. Maybe Ill do as recommended and give it a good wash with some brake cleaner. The problem is I guess I forgot about it a few times and drove away. So it might be quite worn. How easy is that to tell from just looking at the pads?

Can anyone point me to the right parts? It a bit confusing. There is a lot of hand brake shoes around, how do i figure out which one I need. And is the britpart shoes out of the question?
-
A bit expensive for my style. The truck is not doing any mud stuff, just hauling around a camper... so i would prefer to sort out the existing drum. But thanks for the advice..

Hi. my 1984 OneTen:s handbrake doesn't work since a long time back and I recon I need it during winter. So I have adjusted the tensioner (on the drum) so that the drum/axel locks, and then released it a tad. Also tensioned the cable so that the handle stops mid way (ruffly). Still the brake doesn't grip. I can't move the drum by hand, but I can easily roll the car if there is a small incline or just by realeasing the clutch on 1st gear... The cable is on the last thread so It can't be tensioned more then it is now...
I am guessing I need to get new brake pads (STC2797) or?
Thanks for any tips...

very vulnerable to damage off road otherwise
Good point. Mainly I wanna get the transferbox and gearbox temperature. Not sure if I can find a better place to put it unless i drill and tap the housing.
-
Well I can confidently tell you that none of them will fit cos none of them are big enough!
Kind of doubt that. The LT230 plug looks a lot smaller then M18... Maybe it better order new plugs and then drill and tap for the sender instead.

Hi. Im fitting a few temp meters to my cars. Can anyone give me the size of the sump plugs so I can order correct adapter to fit with the VDO temp meters?
LT230 Transfeerbox
R380 Gearbox TD5
LT77 Gearbox 200tdi
Engine sump plug td5
Engine sump plug 200tdi
The adapters I can choose from are
3/8 BSP
M12x1,25
M12x1,5
M14x1,5
M16x1,5M18x1,5
I gonna do the classic finger in the whole method. So it would be nice to have the right sizes at hand..
many thanks

Well. I plugged in a VDO meter, and installed a new intercooler. Also flushed the engine. The water was quite sluggish. I think my metal expansion tank gives away a lot of residues and that pollutes the cooler... Anyway. Now she stays around 70-80 deg and the heater is all of a sudden super warm
So all good all fine. The trick with making your own adapter worked like a charm. Thanks for all the advice.

This is the adapter I use for my disco converted engine...

Anyone got the size of the sender threads on a 200tdi thermostat housing? Ive got the madman one but thats 8.2 in diameter...
Found it myself. The sender thread is 5/8" = 16mm
And my new sender is 8.2 mm so I need an adapter I guess.
-
Is there a more exact gauge to fit with the existing temp sensor? Ive got a mad man laying around, but the sensor don't fit my thermostat housing, so I never got around to installing it.
-
Hmm so something has changed...
Yes. Replaced the head a while ago and the new one is running fine. Its just the temp thats acting up. I don't have my old thermostat to test with, but it would make sense that the one i got from the new head is faulty.. But I can't think of anything else that would cause this, so a new thermostat and a new radiator it is...

I'm using a disco 200tdi with the original 2.5 petrol sender and gauge. Mine gradually gets 'warm' after about 6 miles when the gauge sits in the middle of the dial where it never really moves from until I start again.
Thats how mine used to be...

Hmmm I just googled it and found some interesting youtube explanations, but ultimatly its down to some special wax that has a high thermal expension coefficient, meanign when it gets aroun 88 degrees it swells up causing a piston and the valve to open... quite simple but rather claver..
Good to know..

If you have the wrong sensor. All that happens is that it shows the wrong temperature, but it should be a stable temperature. I tried it once and it stayed on red the whole time. But putting back the old sensor solved that.

How does the thermostat actually work?
-
Well. I swap it then. And yes its a converted one with a disco 200tdi.. I just figure if the thermostat is open it explains why the engine is not warming up. But not why its overheating when driving heavy. But a new rad is probably a good ide, the old one is missing a lot of fins (or whatever they are called. Thanks for the ideas.

Hi. Can anyone confirm my theory.
My 200tdi never gets warm (stays on maximum first mark) unless I am towing a trailer up a mountain pass, then it gets close to red.
So my theory is that the thermostat is open in some kind of half open state. Sending to much water to the cooler for normal use, but not enough for heavy work.
Is that possible?
Thanks

Hi. I need a part number for the metal frame that supports a MUC7916AE canvas. I find a kit in RAVE but I only need the pipes/frame. The car is a 1984 110 pickup. So the old style I guess. Bulkhead fixing. Or what should I search on in ebay?
Thanks
-
Thats how I thinks it works as well. It got 2 pipes going in and 2 going out to the cooler, Im guessing one direction is only pas through and the other one is the pump. Ill have a closer look when I get the car back from the garage.
handbrake question OneTen / do not lock

Not impossible... Actually quite probably. I do have small oil leakage under the drum anyway. So I am guessing this is the fault. Ill wait with the drum until I have a new seal ready and waiting. No need to be laying on back more the necessary.
