I have a disco transfer box in my 110. Yes 1st is now a bit too high but the benefit for motorway cruising more than makes up for it. I have had to use low box on a couple of occasions for a very steep hill start but overall I'm very pleased with the 1.2 box.

That does sound like its faulty, there may be some kind of internal shunt that has failed or become disconnected I prefer a volt meter that has actual voltages marked which gives a better idea of what's going on. Something like this might be a suitable replacement: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/12V-UNIVERSAL-BATTERY-CONDITION-VOLT-METER-GAUGE-52MM-Genuine-Durite-/230726854407?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item35b8646707

Thanks for the warning. I use MM Tracker all the time so I will be sure not to update the OS for the time being.

Yes, its fuse to switch to light, no relay involved. You can access the switch by taking out the centre seat or cubby box.
-
No you won't get a "12v while reversing" feed from the fuse box as that's before the reverse switch. You could pick it up either at the reverse switch on the gearbox or at the reverse light.

I have also just bought the one in the eBay link for my 110. I was actually quite impressed with the image quality even in darkness (until I just saw Simon's post) but its more than adequate and for £37 you can't go wrong.
I have the camera and the screen powered from the ignition feed and the blue/green connected to the reverse light feed. If you power the screen up and then turn it off on the screen itself it will "remember" to stay in off/mirror mode even when powered until it receives a signal on the blue/green wire. It will "remember" to operate in this way from then on so you only have to set it once.

Its not clear from your post, just to check, you are cranking the engine when bleeding from the FIP to the Injectors? Priming the lift pump alone will not push fuel through to the injectors. You need to crack open the fuel connections at each of the injectors then crank the engine until fuel leaks out, then re tighten the fuel connections and it should go.

I have used Dayco timing belts on various vehicles in the past as I understand they are a good manufacture.

I have a ford mondeo fan on mine, tried it on a 20A fuse and it blew on start up, I have been running it on a 30A fuse for a while without a problem, doubt you'll get away with anything smaller.

That's very unfortunate, definitely not what you need after all your work re-building the engine. I assume the skew gear drives the oil pump or vacume pump? What is the reason that it needs to be matched when refitted? How did a mis-match damage the sliders and followers?

I mainly use paddocks, had no problems, price is always competitive. They do stock a lot of Britpart though, basically if there isn't a brand name listed on the website its probably Britpart so I tend to avoid it.
4Muddy Feet - website lists the part with prices by multiple manufactures so you can pay your money and take your choice. Good customer service and helpful on the phone.
land-rover-part-shop - These guys stock mainly AllMakes kit which seems to be ok? I've only used them once but they were also extremely helpful on the phone so I will definitely be back.

Our Freelander TD4 seems to consistantly get 36mpg. Best I got was 38mpg on a fairly careful long run, worst was 33mpg with full load and roof tent. Our discovery2 TD5 gets around 30mpg but given the choice I will always take the discovery.

Does anyone know what the rules are regarding running on veg in Europe? My last trip I went over there with a tank full of veg, it then occurred to me that perhaps this wasn't allowed?
-
I went there twice in 2009. It was very quiet when we went which was quite nice. First time It was muddy but we got round most of it with Trac Edge tyres on. Second visit was a bit drier which enabled us to do the hills. If you've never been its probably worth a visit. I would be tempted to join you but I'm away that weekend.

My dad had one of these in his 90 which replaced the original 2.25 petrol. It was an excellent engine. I did hear that parts are hard to get hold of but it was so reliable that no spares were needed in the 15 years he owned the vehicle.

It does sound like the battery is going flat for some reason, either that or a bad earth? You say it only happens if you don't use the truck for a few days so I assume it starts fine when you use it on a daily bases? That would suggest that the alternator and starter are fine. There could be something constantly draining power from the battery which is allowing it to go flat after a few days. You could disconnect one of the battery leads and put an ammeter in series with it to see what standby current is being drawn. A few milliamps for the alarm is normal but hundreds of milliamps is not so good.

Alps are boring, that was one of the bits i was looking forward too most.
No I think he means the alps was good but Germany was boring? I hope so anyway as I'm heading to the Alps in May. Here's a list of what we carried on our trip to Morocco http://www.liamchallis.co.uk/morocco/inventory.html I will carry most of this kit again when we go to Europe. The only thing we really needed was the spare lift pump. We also had a PAS pump bearing fail but on a 200tdi defender you can just remove the belt and carry on, if we were in a disco we would have been stuffed as its linked with the water pump.

Has anyone heard about the Reading low emission zone? I switched on BBC breakfast this morning just in time to catch the newsreader mention something about plans being submitted for a new LEZ in Reading starting with buses and lorrys then moving onto older cars and vans. Clearly it will take a few years to implement but its not good.

Indeed a fun day out and very well run/organised.
was an early start for us to get up there (0300hrs) and a late run back but well worth itAnd I though we had an early start leaving Oxford at 05:00!
We did embarrassingly badly and also got stuck but it was our first competitive event and we will endeavour to do better in January.
For anyone who wishes to analyse the score sheet I grabbed a quick snap on my phone which I will try to attach.........

Don't forget that the transformer will give you an AC output, presumably there is a rectifier etc on board the pcb that was used by the old transformer? Just make sure the new transformer is connected before the rectifier.
-
It also says you need a roamer, I've just found mine and realised its only marked up in nautical miles so that could be interesting.........
-
Mine was in the centre of the roof until it got destroyed while green laning, it now lives on top of the bull bar similar to the one above.

Give footman james a call, I read the bit about being garaged at night but when I phoned and explained that it wouldn't fit in my garage they were ok as long as it was parked off the road at night.

I've got one of those from that eBay seller. The rad seems very well made, the plastic tanks are extremely thick and tough looking. Many cars have plastic ends as original from the factory these days so I thought I'd give it a go. Its been on there a year so far and no problems yet anyway.
