  5. Hi all, The hand brake light on the dash on my 1997 disco 300tdi remains on while driving. It flickers off and on continuosly. The brake fluid is full. Could it be a faulty brake light switch. Where would the switch be located. Any help will be appreciated. thanks
  6. Well said Nicks 90. That exactly how they do it. I think i am not going to do the OME thing. Too costly to continue maintaining.
  7. Hi The catalogue just mentions " all defenders post 1998" require a DC prop.
  8. Thanks all for your input. Headhunter, JST, do you have a double cardon propshaft on your landy. I believe the OME part catalogue mentions that this prop must be fitted to all defenders post 1998 if an OME suspension is fitted, otherwise you will experience vibrations thanks
  9. JST - it will be for normal 4x4ing, a few trips on dirt roads. nothing too hectic
  10. hi guys whats the verdict on a full OME suspension on a defender 90? thanks for your views
  11. thanks guys. will start looking as pointed out. cheers
  12. Hi guys i noticed that the carpets in the rear of my defender 90 seems to be damp after a rain. Any ideas where i should start looking for leaks. Cheers

  14. thanks guys. I will first try to figure out what oil is leaking, is it the ATF (red) or engine oil. If its the crank seal, must the whole engine come off? thanks for all your help.
  15. hi all, i see oil leaking through the wading plug hole in the bell housing of my 1997 300tdi disco 1. Will it be the oil from the main box or something else that is seeping from somewhere. thanks

    brakes

after checking all the pointers given by the knowledable people on this forum, my front right brake is still locking. It has become quite annoying as in wet weather it goes like a sledge. I dont know if the nut on the backing plate has something to do with this. The one that pushes the lining away from the backing plate.? ( not brake adjuster nut)
  19. Some feed back. i spray loads of Q20, rust remover, similar to WD 40. The lever is now free and mouving freely. Working from underneath is a mission as the 90 is very congested. But... But, the lever does not stay in the locked position. As long as i hold the gear lever in the diff locked position the diff lock light remains on. As soon as i leave the lever, it slowly releases and goes back into the normal position ie centre diff not locked. Is there some sort of adjustment? Thanks guys i am almost there.

    brakes

snagger, sorry if i didn'y come across clearly. The landy is a series 3 pick up, LWB 109. it has 11 inch brake shoes in the front. It has a servo. Dual circuit??? i am not sure what this is. How will i know. But to the best of my knowledge there is no fancy valves etc on the brake lines. Basically there are two seperate issues: 1. during normal driving, when i press the brake, the right front wheel locks. Basically it does not gently stop. eg if i am travelling on a dry dirt road, the wheel will drag when i press the brake no matter how gently i press the pedal. 2. when the landy is laden, and on an incline, the back brakes bind when pressed. I virtually have to reverse to free the brake, otherwise i wont be able to continue uphill. With regard to failing bearing, these have been renewed recently. Hose failure, how do i test? Will it not be the servo adjustment. i hope this gives some insight as to my woes. thanks for all the responses so far guys. i am isolating them one by one.
  23. didn't try activating on top of T box by hand yet. will do that next and will let you guys know.
  24. JST, it is moving slightly to the left with light coming on, but then moves back to the original position and the light goes out.
