  1. That sounds horrible.......... my guess is transfer box output bearings.......... have a lay underneath, and wiggle the output shafts..... do this with the handbrake off, but on a level surface with it in gear!!!

Another thought on transfer box, try it in low range, is the noise still there,....??? is it speed or engine revs related... that should tell you lots!

Also worth jacking it up one axle at a time and giving the wheels a good spin, could be a diff bearing,.....

  2. ECU is remapped, and should normally give enough diesel to the engine trough complete rev-range ;-)

As joe says, your current ecu will have been mapped to your existing set-up, ANYTHING you might add to the engine can make a different to the fuelling demands, and without doubt, changing the turbo will definately mean another remap. Do not think that just because its fine now, it will be fine in the future....... it wont!

  3. The reason the brake is there is to hold you, or stop the cable from simply pulling off the drum....

Lets assume you were winching yourself uphill, and you stop the winch motor, if there was no brake, the weight on the cable could easily pull the cable off the drum, and you would go back down the hill, not a good plan, however, as said, if the winch stays the wrong way around, you will be pulling against the brake all the time, and it won;t last very long at-all!!

  4. Rob, as i understand it, the setion from Salisbury to the racecourse is closed, however i do know someone who apparently drove it recently, i then told him it was closed....... so if you want to avoid the possibility of trouble, start from the racecourse........ from then on, it is certainly do-able alone, its basically like a gravel track all the way, no real issue anywhere....

  5. This is a good reason why some people should possibly have two identities on ebay, one for buying, one for selling............. os with the click of a mouse, you can see that shiney truck your about to buy, that was 2 weeks ago a crock of carp...LOL!!

  6. I would say yes, it's definately worth doing the egr and de-cat, why would you want hot dirty gasses going back through the engine......... daft idea if you ask me, and also, the cat.......... its like having ahouse brick in your exhasut.............

And as for insurance, i guess that as it wouldmn;t be standard factory spec, then yes, they should be told........... only to cover your arse though!

  7. This happened to mine, the link that conencts the rod to the transfer box had broken, i wonder if they put the transfer box in neutral to do the brake test on the rollers..... and then it broke...... mine snapped when i was just coming off a lane, in the dark..... i had to remove the centre seat and fumble around in the dark to select high range again to get home.... i learnt a lesson that day, never go out without a light source.... ie, inspection lamp or torch..!!

  8. Clutch master cylinder.............. don;t bother, its on the putside and can easily be changed if need be......

Clutch slave Cylinder............. again, on the outside so no need.........

    Clutch Cover, Plate and bearing....YES

    Clutch fork, modified.....Yes

    Crank Seal.....YES

Spigot Bearing (does it come with/attached the clutch)?....Yes if not in clutch kit.....................

Anything else even if its not related to the clutch.

....Yes if not in clutch kit.....................

  9. HI, does anyone know where i might be able to source ZERO offset modular wheels in 7x16 flavour.............. i got a set a few yrs ago, but might have a need for another set, and the original supplier has i think gone.......... Bronco 4x4...... they were flippin useless anyway, so not sure i'd go back even if they're still around..!!

    Cheers.

  10. Great news that the truck was found, as i understand it, you cannot drive into or out of hampshire ona major road, without your number plate registering with the police computers.... so, if it was reported intime, the police may have had a head start with knowing which direction it was going!!!

I'm not afan of big brother, but if it helps in cases like this, then it can't be all bad!

  11. Thanks for the replies and links so far.

Excuse my ignornace, but what is the pile of salt for? Will this keep mice away or is it to absorb moisture?

As for the state, I'm in Washington state, which is 9-10 months out of the year a 'wet' (rainy) climate. Depending on cost, I would much rather keep it stored in a covered enclosure.

Having travelled most of the western states in the US, inc washington, i seem to recall hundreds of storage units....... this would be the most suitable place i guess.......

I would simply put the vehicle on axle stands, having given it a damn good clean underneath, and disconnect the battery... the salt inside would indeed be to 'catch' the moisture....... on return i would change the fluids, and enjoy using it again,..... i have an old car in my garage, here in the uk, ie damp! and it doesn't deteriorate at-all...... i sometimes leave that months between running it, and all i do is reconnect the battery and away i go.....
